Verbate aims to work closely with community organizations in the NYC area since we're headquartered in Brooklyn. We want to provide community orgs with online connection, technology guidance, and access to critical resources.

Pick a Plant Day

Initiative Description
Everyone in Brooklyn should have at least 3 plants in their home to generate happiness. We'll give out a succulent for anyone who needs one!

Community Garden

Initiative Description
We'd like to build a community garden at the corner of Atlantic and Henry to bring the community together. We have a handful of different gardeners in the neighborhood who are willing to pitch in and maintain it!

Employee Volunteering

Goals

We want to give our employees a way to be involved with communities they align with by donating their time and skills in a hybrid and remote work world.

Strategy

Our employees have an opportunity to donate their skills and time through our skills-based volunteer platform.

Custom Community Impact Program

Goals

We want to give more community organizations a way to secure more funding and skills-based volunteers.

Strategy

We've created contactless technology for community orgs, and are now shifting to direct sponsorship facilitation.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB)

Goals

Our CEO and co-founder, Anisha Nandi, is a woman of color who is committed to furthering opportunities for diverse perspectives in the tech ecosystem. We would like to expand our efforts to make them more tangible and measurable into the future.

Strategy

Our commitment to impact and inclusion is reflected in our hiring process, cap table construction and product development.

Employee Resource Groups

Goals

As we grow, we're developing ERGs to provide opportunities for productive discussion and accountability.

Strategy

Currently, we do not have ERGs since we're a small team.

Compensation and Benefits

Goals

We would like to provide more competitive comp as we raise another round of funding. Our benefits are competitive, but could get better as well. We'd like to be able to provide stronger care for families into the future. We would also like to provide a 401K into the future.

Strategy

We provide healthcare, eye care and dental currently that accommodates different types of living situations and families. We give unlimited PTO and flexible working benefits (stipends etc).

Career Development

Goals

We'd like to have a comprehensive career development program that gives our employees a way to develop, nurture and grow their goals right from the get-go of joining Verbate.

Strategy

Currently, with such a small team, it's just regular documentation of our product and leadership goals.

With our current small team, we work hard to communicate, list our values and audit our current casual processes regularly.

We don't currently have Carbon Emissions goals - would love to work on this and find out the best way to think about what we should do into the future.

We don't have a physical footprint as a business, but as we expand and perhaps rent offices, we'll consider how that changes.

We would like to continue to reduce our footprint and stay a remote team even as we grow.

Our hybrid-remote team allows us to save and share resources across the company - saving resources like electricity and water. We also focus on bringing in community orgs that focus on green initiatives.

As we grow our leadership team, I'd like to make sure we remain a diverse group so our decision-making remains strong, innovative and full of different perspectives.

All of our platform is built on no-code tools by our COO so we have a strong understanding of the process and practices and are committed to keeping them responsible.
